Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
You may have heard about this breakaway hit of 2019. Even people who don’t read are devouring it. Books this in vogue are usually disappointing for me. Rarely can they live up to the hype. But not this one! Beautiful prose paints an exquisite picture of nature that takes your breath away. The setting is incomparable to anything I have ever read before. Kya’s story is both tragic and uplifting. Universal themes of love, loneliness, abandonment, coming-of-age, and will appeal to almost everyone. If there was ever a novel that I would just describe as “a beautiful story”, this would be it. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a meaningful, memorable, and moving tale. This book stays with you for a long time.
